Fundacion Guia Mi
Active in these sectors:
Provides services for: Children, Family & relationships, Parents

Each minor needs a person or an agency that exercises legal authority over him/her. This is a guardian. A guardian makes all formal decisions for the minor and is responsible for him/her. Fundacion Guia Mi can be appointed guardian by the court.
If a minor is not properly cared for by his/her parents/caregivers (neglect, abuse), the court may place the minor under supervision at the request of the Guardianship Board Directorate. In such cases, the court appoints a family supervisor to guide the minor and his/her parents. The court also decides whether the minor will continue to live at home or will be placed in care. A social worker of Fundacion Guia Mi is appointed family supervisor.
Each social worker of Fundacion Guia Mi supervises up to 35 minors. In addition, the guidance is aimed at the parents and foster parents.
Fundacion Guia Mi provides intensive guidance, since it will then have an effect more quickly. This guidance is designed to minimize the duration of the placement in care and the family supervision order. If the results of the guidance fail to materialize, it can be advised to issue a different child protection order, such as dismissing the parents/caregivers from parental authority/custody. Guidance is provided based on a guidance plan.
Fundacion Guia Mi works based on the view that a minor can best be raised by his/her parents in his/her own environment. Fundacion Guia Mi also uses the Convention on the Rights of the Child as agreed on by the United Nations in New York in September 1990 as a starting point.
Purpose of the organization
To guide and cause minors to be guided. This guidance can be provided at a boarding school or elsewhere. Consideration could be given to a foster family, family of the minor or at home.
The protection of minors in general, focusing on the interests of the minor.
In case of guardianship, the aim is to eventually assign guardianship to the parent(s)/caregiver(s) of the minor.
In case of a family supervision order, efforts are made to solve the problems at home and to place the child at home again. The ultimate goal of the guidance of Fundacion Guia Mi is that the family supervision order can be revoked.
