Grupo Scout Sonrisa

Scouting Aruba began with a scout group for people with mental and physical limitations. The group got the name Grupo Scout Sonrisa. The word “sonrisa” in Papiamento means “smile”.

Professionals in working with people with limitations, were asked to help and also people with experience in scouting. These leaders were motivated to start with the new challenge.
The idea was to integrate people with mental and physical limitations into the Aruban society, by using a special prepared scout program. By doing this, they find ways to overcome their limitations and also they get the opportunity to experience the great world of scouting.

Purpose of the organization

To educate children and young people to become citizens that contribute positively to the development of their community and country.

Afl. 15 per year and Afl. 5-10 per month

Grupo Scout Sonrisa participates in national and international competitions, but does not compete.
