Fundacion Telefon pa Hubentud

Fundacion Telefon pa Hubentud operates an anonymous telephone and internet helpline for children and young people. Telefon pa Hubentud provides information, advice and assistance aimed at preventing, reducing or eliminating questions and problems of an individual or social nature among children, young people and groups of young people, and at monitoring needs, deficits, developments, expectations and the like, existing in society, in any way affecting the interests of children and young people, and developing a critical response thereto, and everything related to the objectives set forth above in the broadest sense.

Purpose of the organization

Providing support, advice and information to children and young people aged 8 to 24 years by telephone and through the internet, aimed at preventing, reducing or eliminating questions and problems of an individual or social nature; as well as:

Developing a critical monitoring function with respect to society, social institutions and government agencies as regards existing needs, deficits, developments and amenities in any way affecting the interests of children and young people.

By means of these objectives, Fundacion Telefon pa Hubentud tries to contribute to:
- The "empowerment" of children and young people;
- The prevention, reduction or elimination of problems among young people;
- The prevention of crime by paying timely attention to (the problems of) children and young people aged 8 to 24 years; and
- Developing, together with other juvenile institutions, a network for youth services.

Telefon pa Hubentud has been a member of Child Helpline International since 2004. Child Helpline International is based in Amsterdam and has 183 members in 142 countries. With this membership, Fundacion Telefon pa Hubentud has given a new dimension to the assistance rendered by telephone to children and young people in Aruba, but it also enables it to share ideas, projects and/or policy techniques on a regional basis. Telefon pa Hubentud participates in both the regional and international meetings organized by Child Helpline International. Telefon pa Hubentud operates according to the policy of Child Helpline International policy and exchanges information and data with Child Helpline International.
